We’ve traveled all over the world and one of the most important things I have learned is that it doesn’t matter where you are, great views always sell for a premium.

Go to any hotel and the best views have the highest rates. Look at real estate in cities like Manhattan or Los Angeles and you will see that rental costs and real estate prices can cost 20-50% more when you have a great view.

It’s no surprise that with property in Costa Rica it is no different. We are fortunate that the scenery is so stunning here that almost every property in Costa Rica has a beautiful view and just like everywhere else the premium view of all views are ocean view properties.

Because of Costa Rica’s terrain and the fact that most of the coastal areas remain undeveloped it is very much more difficult to find the ocean-view property in Costa Rica that some might expect.

Beachfront property in Costa Rica can offer some of the best ocean-views, but most properties are not elevated enough to get that truly expansive view.

For those more expansive views you’ll need to typically go up in the mountains, however, unpaved roads and lack of infrastructure can sometimes limit those options as well.

These factors is obviously what makes ocean-view property in Costa Rica that much more valuable, its simply supply and demand.

The good news is there are still some very affordable ocean-view properties in our area of Jaco, Costa Rica, with fully furnished ocean-view condos starting at around $250,000.

It’s hard to beat views of the Pacific’s blue waters and the lush green rain forest. So if you are looking at real estate in Costa Rica, make the smart choice and be sure to focus on a property that has the view that most people are seeking!
