The store opened on Friday, July 21st. Their convenient hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily. They are located in Centro Commercial Paco shopping mall, next to Il Panino restaurant.

Fresh Market carries a variety of products including gourmet meats, cheeses, fresh vegetables and fruits. Besides Costa Rican products, the store stocks products from the USA and other countries. The stores concept is to provide the freshest food products.

The first sight that greets you as you enter the well designed store, is the artfully displayed fresh produce. Fresh packed salads, along with seasonal fruits including bananas, watermelons, mangos, zapotes, jocote apples, strawberries, oranges and grapes catch your eye.

The next counter over contains a variety of specialty cheeses. The selection of cheeses include Brie, Swiss, Edam, Fontina, Parmesan, Cheddar and Gouda.

The sights and smells of the bakery draw you over to browse and taste the fresh pastry samples. Freshly baked baguettes, chiabatta and multigrain bread, as well as sweet bread line the bakery shelves.

A full line of meat products are included, along with packaged gourmet meat cuts. Fresh flowers are available in the store entry and along the magazine display. A prominent corner of the store has been reserved for a wine display. Art work from a featured artist is displayed for sale.

The entire concept of Fresh Market is new to Costa Rica. It provides the convenience of a “medium sized” store, with a wide selection of food, without the hassle of going to a larger supermarket.

What is most important, is that the quality of products is closely monitored. Prices were found to be competitive with other food stores in Escazu.
