The Montezuma Oropendola is a large (20″) chestnut colored bird with an orange tipped bill, a partly yellow tail and a truly amazing call.







According to ‘A Guide To The Birds of Costa Rica’ by Gary Stiles and Alexander Skutch, the “song of male a far carrying, liquid gurgle, melodious at a distance but with screeching, metallic overtones at close range, often preceded by a loud rustling or crashing sound..”

We think that after you listen to to the call of the Montezuma Oropendola that you’ll agree, it is the “weirdest bird that you have ever heard.”
