I have been thoroughly impressed with the medical care we have used – the doctors visits were 7,000 for general practitioner and 17,000 colones for a neurologist who pinpointed my diagnosis more specifically than my doctor in the states.

The attention you receive as a private pay patient is certainly better than I would get in the states. There are also fewer “to cover liability” type tests ordered. Our health has steadily improved since we have been here.

We are also excited about some of the alternative medicine available here. I am being treated by Dr. Kim, an acupuncturist at reasonable cost with incredible results. I had been told I would eventually need a wheelchair and indeed was needing a cane a year ago and now I walk about freely without assistance. What a difference he has made in our lives!

The climate, the wonderful people, and the lack of Walmart’s lures are just a few of my favorite things. We can live with a lot less stuff more easily in this country. Although we are considering getting a car, it is certainly not necessary and not having one has probably been contributing to our good health here – less stress!

The stimulation of new things to see and do and new people to interact with is certainly beneficial psychologically and spiritually as well!
