After seeing the How To Buy Costa Rica Real Estate Without Losing Your Camisa book, a Producer for CNBC Television emailed me requesting an interview to discuss Costa Rica real estate. After clarifying a few details I said that we would be happy to try and help in any way that we could.

CNBC specifically requested the interview that the interview should take place at an high-end luxury home for sale in Costa Rica so, we arranged to visit a gorgeous US$3.3 million property located in La Garita.

This spectacular private home is situated on 22 impeccably manicured acres and the owners presently live there full-time. The owners are the founders of a successful travel firm in Costa Rica, they are not as young as they used to be and are selling to downsize and relax a little more.

At first sight, it is obvious that they have poured a lot of love and energy into this luxury home and their beautiful gardens over the past 30 years. To give you an example, when I inquired why there were special holes positioned around a majestic old tree, they told me their tree specialist who visits regularly, uses them to ‘vaccinate’ the tree against fungus and other infections.

This luxurious La Garita property would also make a spectacular corporate retreat or a stunning boutique hotel simply by adding perhaps 8-10 small luxury villas around the perimeter of the property but please, make sure you have the right shoes for your very own putting green.

And talk about convenience… This magnificent, lush and luxurious estate is exactly 11 minutes away from the country’s international airport so for those of you looking for a place in the sun that’s easy to get to, we don’t think you’ll find a better luxury home in Costa Rica…

The CNBC interview was done by Mike Hegedus who is a very well known special features correspondent, covering business stories in the USA and overseas, primarily for CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” The interview was quick and fun and it was good to see a famous face that I haven’t seen since my Wall Street days in New York City, but that was 10+ plus years ago when I used to watch television.

Footnote: Sorry to report that the CNBC “show” on Costa Rica Real Estate on 7th April 2006 was not quite what we were led to believe… Had you blinked, you would indeed have missed it.

And who on earth wrote the trailers for the “show” about Costa Rica saying that there was “A gold rush on a tropical island” and then “We’ll take you to the island getaway?” Jeez!

Someone Please Tell CNBC That Costa Rica is NOT An Island.
