You don’t think you like ballet?

Over 2,400 years ago the Greek Simonides said that “dancing is silent poetry” and, if like me you feel that way then you will love Le Jeune Homme Et La Mort – The Young Man and Death.

With music by Johann Sebastian Bachin and Ottorino Respighi’s arrangement, passion oozes from every little movement in this magnificent short ballet (under 17 minutes) superbly choreographed by Roland Pettit with ballet dancers Nicolas Le Riche and Marie-Agnes Gillot.

The ballet tells the story of an tormented young painter who is cruelly rejected by the girl he adores, then hangs himself. Created in Paris in 1946, the piece is steeped in existential despair, and a very precise note must be struck if it is to play convincingly. ”

So sit back, relax for just 17 sweet minutes and then when it’s all over, tell me you don’t like the ballet….

The ballet is love, it’s passion, it’s heartache and bliss, the ballet is life!

Why am I including some of my favourite music and ballet on WeLoveCostaRica.com?

Not exactly Costa Rican is it?

Because most people don’t have the time to search for new music, because music has no borders and simply because it’s beautiful and, if you haven’t already seen this, I believe your world will be a more beautiful and peaceful place after watching it…

I sincerely hope you enjoy it …

PS. Please don’t try these dance moves at home!
